Waldorf Trustee Scholarship
The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the establishment of The Waldorf Trustee Scholarship program, beginning with the 2013-14 academic year.
This scholarship is modeled on a program in place at the High Mowing Waldorf School, in New Hampshire. With this new program, we seek to increase enrollment by attracting new students who would benefit from a Waldorf education, and who in turn would enrich our classrooms and our community.
Students applying for admission to grades 5, 6 or 7 who have not attended WHWS since the 2009-10 school year may apply for the Waldorf Trustee Scholarship. To qualify for a Waldorf Trustee Scholarship, the applicant must display a commitment to excellence in a particular discipline or area of study, including academics, the arts, community service, athletics, or another field of interest in which the applicant can demonstrate unique, determined, and successful efforts and accomplishments. These students exhibit the characteristics that permit them to thrive in a Waldorf school: focused will, sensitivity to craft, a seriousness of purpose, inner drive, an engaged mind, and enlivened imagination. Up to five awards, of between $2,500 and $5,000, will be offered. Waldorf Trustee Scholarships are automatically renewable each year that the recipient remains in good standing at the school.
The Board of Trustees will review the scholarship program each year to determine if it is serving as an effective recruiting tool; whether it is affecting the communal and egalitarian values of WHWS; and if the process should be modified for administrative, financial, or other reasons.
