FUN FOR THE YOUNG

Summer Camp 2017
Ages 4-7

 

Monday - Thursday
10 AM - 3 PM
(optional extended hours 9 AM - 10 AM for $10/day)

WEEK 1: July 24 - July 27

WEEK 2: July 31 - August 3

This summer your young child can enjoy a camp program suited particularly to his or her needs.  The program is held outdoors in the wonderful kindergarten play yard at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School.

Components of the day include:

  • circle time & games 
  • simple, picnic style snack
  • outdoor play time
  • age appropriate arts and crafts
  • lunch time (indoors)
  • water play time
  • popsicle time

The program is led by Adrienne Doucette, a certified Waldorf teacher with over 20 years of experience.  Sign up for one or both weeks.

SWEET WATER SUMMER CAMP

Ages 4 1/2 - 6 1/2

 

Monday - Thursday
10 AM - 3 PM
(optional early bird hour 9 AM - 10 AM for additional $10/day)

WEEK 1: July 10 - July 13

WEEK 2: July 17 - July 20

Inspired by the wonderful Waldorf early childhood rhythm and the spirit of summer, this summer camp will hold your children in familiar arms and nourish them with the spark of summer. Your child will feel and breathe into summer with:

  • Plenty of outdoor play (swim suits will be packed instead of muddy buddies!)
  • Circle time
  • Summer inspired arts and crafts
  • Indoor play in a Waldorf early childhood classroom
  • Sit-down picnic lunch (brown-bag style)
  • Outdoor storytime (rest time) in the shade

This program is led by a certified Waldorf teacher and Extended Day teacher at WHWS. Families who sign up for both weeks will be given priority for consistency purposes. There is limited space available so please turn your application into the office as soon as possible if interested. Applications will be processed in the order they were received on April 30th.

Camp Fee: $165/week, additional $10/day for early bird children.

CAMPS FOR OLDER CHILDREN

 

2017 SUMMER GARDENING CAMPS AT WHWS

Ages 8-12

 

Monday - Thursday
10 AM - 3 PM
(optional early start at 9am with Adrienne Doucette)

WEEK 1: July 24-27 Magic Potions and Lotions
Kids will learn how to grow, harvest, and use plants to make fun products to nourish their bodies inside and out.

WEEK 2: July 31-August 3 Food Preservation Skills
We will harvest and prepare foods for winter storage.  Projects will include jam, pickles, fruit leathers, and herbal tea mixes. 

This summer program is held in the garden at the Whatcom Hills Waldorf School with some exploration of nearby parks and forest.  Developmentally appropriate games and activities will provide enriching and fun opportunities for your child.

Components of the day include:

  • Circle time & games 
  • Planting, harvesting, and cooking from the garden
  • Outdoor exploration and play time
  • Swimming at Lake Whatcom with one bus trip weekly to Whatcom Falls Park
  • Preparation of herbal and food concoctions to take home

This camp is led by Heather Tiszai, the gardening teacher at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School, with the assistance of an 8th grade helper. Simple, organic snacks will be provided. Participants will bring their own lunch. Sign up for one or both weeks.

$220/week: This includes all supplies so that each participant may take their quality creations home to share with family and friends.

SUMMER ART & GARDEN CAMP

Ages 6-11

 

Monday - Thursday
10 AM - 3 PM
(optional early bird hour 9-10 am for $10/day)

Where: 1244 Lakeview St (1/2mile from WHWS)

WEEK 1: June 19 - June 22
Special focus: Silk painting & Flag Making

WEEK 2: July 10 - July 13
Special focus: Garden ~planting/ harvesting/ baking (eating!) Soap & lotion making from materials harvested by the children.

WEEK 3: July 17 - July 20
Special focus~Water play and Model boat making and launching

Miss Joanna (former Earlycare provider) & daughters Rosie & Isabelle welcome your children aged 6-11 to join us this summer in 3 home-based summer camps.

Each camp and Every day to include: Art, Garden & Animal time, A walk to Lake Whatcom for water play-time &/or Geneva elementary playground. A more detailed curriculum is available upon request.

$195/week per child. Healthy snacks provided, children to bring lunch.
