Welcome!
We are so happy that you are considering Whatcom Hills Waldorf School as a possible option for your child's educational journey. We understand that choosing a school is a big decision for a family, and we want to answer any questions you may have so that you feel confident you are making the right choice.
We have found that when a family believes in the education they have chosen, their child thrives and, in turn, the whole community benefits. At Whatcom Hills we all work together to create the unique experience that supports your child’s social, emotional and academic success. From festivals to plays, and field trips to campus projects, we work as a community to make the magic happen. It takes a village to raise a child!
It is important to us that we are able to meet a child’s particular needs and so, enrolling with us includes several steps:
Inquiry
Please fill out our Enrollment Inquiry form to begin the process.
Tour/Virtual tour
Once we receive your Enrollment Inquiry, we will invite you for a tour of our school. These informational sessions will be roughly one hour long and will include either an in-person or a virtual walk through of our campus with an overview from our Enrollment Coordinator with Q&A. You will see the grounds, classrooms and other spaces. We are also happy to have a conversation either by phone or video chat (see below). You can view our virtual tour video on our website here.
Application
Once you've had a tour, the next step is to complete and submit an online application (which will be sent to you following the tour). If a class is full, your application will be placed on file and you will be contacted when a space becomes available. A new application must be filled out for each academic year. Only one fee is required.
Previous School Records (1st-8th grade)
Any of your child's previous school records will be requested for review.
Parent/Teacher Conversation
Once the teacher has received your child’s application and any previous school records, they will contact you for a short conversation.
Teacher/Family Visit
The teacher will set up a visit (in-person or virutal) to meet you and your child.
3-Day Classroom Visit
During the school year, grades students may be invited to visit the classroom for 3 days, giving both parties a chance to confirm that it is a good fit.
Acceptance
The teacher makes the final decision after careful assessment.
Enrollment Deposit
A non-refundable enrollment deposit of $425 secures your child’s spot in the class and goes towards supply fees. A full breakdown of tuition and financial aid can be found here.
Contract
Your enrollment contract will be prepared after we have received your deposit. We strive for an economically diverse school community and offer financial assistance. For tuition and financial aid breakdown, please click here.
Student Emergency Information Form
This form will be sent to you and must be filled out before the start of school and includes important health information required by the State of Washington.
Trial Period
There is a six week probationary period: this gives both parties an important period in which to determine a positive fit for all. If your family leaves for any reason during this period, you are only financially responsible for the days attended. After which, you are responsible for the full term tuition (there are three terms in the school year).
Welcome to Whatcom Hills!
